Aviation International News reported that the Gripen E “has now entered the delivery phase.” Six serial production aircraft “have left the factory and are now being prepared and tested prior to delivery to the aircraft’s two customers.” Four of the Gripen E aircraft are to be sent to the Força Aérea Brasileira, and the remaining two for Sweden’s Flygvapnet.

Saab Gripen E Jet Completes First AI-controlled Flight Tests
Aerotime reports, “Saab has completed a series of flight tests integrating artificial intelligence into its Gripen E fighter jet, the company announced on June 11, 2025. Conducted in partnership with the German-based defense AI firm Helsing, the flights over the Baltic Sea saw the AI agent, named Centaur, take autonomous control of the aircraft during simulated Beyond Visual Range (BVR) combat scenarios.”

Saab to Install AI on Gripen E Aircraft to Assist in BVR Combat
Aviation Week reports, “Saab is gearing up to install a new artificial intelligence (AI) aid on its Gripen E combat aircraft that will assist pilots in beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air combat. The AI agent, developed with European AI defense company Helsing, has been trained on the equivalent of 1.2 million flight hr. of BVR training, Peter Nilsson, Saab’s head of advanced programs, told the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Combat Air Power Conference here March 20.”
