CNET News reports that NASA announced Tuesday that it will be accepting applications “for its next generation of astronauts” between March 2 and March 31. NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said in a statement, “We’re on the verge of sending the first woman and next man to the Moon by 2024.” He added that the agency would hire a “handful” of astronauts. To be considered, applicants must have US citizenship and a master’s degree in a STEM field. Applicants “also need two years of related experience or 1,000 hours of jet aircraft pilot-in-command time.” Candidates will undergo a “two-hour online assessment” and, if selected, must also “pass NASA’s long-duration spaceflight physical examination.”
