Addressing Aviation and Education Challenges with NASA University Leadership Initiative: A dialog with Helen Reed 18 June 2019 1730 - 1830

NASA’s University Leadership Initiative (ULI) provides the opportunity for university teams to exercise technical and organizational leadership in proposing unique technical challenges, defining interdisciplinary solutions, establishing peer review mechanisms, and applying innovative teaming strategies to strengthen the research impact. This is a conversation between Helen Reed and John Cavolowsky about Helen’s experiences while working in two of NASA Aeronautics’ multiyear, multimillion-dollar ULI awards. Their conversation will span the importance of her work, research freedom under the ULI philosophy, the opportunities created for undergraduate and graduate students, and experiences within a multi-disciplinary team of academics and industrial partners.
