Information about Visas
If you plan to attend an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) event held in the United States and you require a visa for travel, you must apply for a visa with the U.S. embassy (consular division) or a U.S. consulate with ample time
for processing. Advance travel planning and early visa application are important. AIAA strongly suggests that you submit your formal application to U.S. authorities a minimum of 120 days in advance of the date of anticipated travel.
Please visit travel.state.gov for more information about the visa application process and U.S. Department of State requirements for travel to the United States.
If you plan to attend an AIAA-organized event that is being held in a country outside the United States and you require a visa to travel to that country, you must apply for a visa at an embassy or consulate of the country in which the event
is being held.
AIAA will provide an official letter of invitation to the event upon the request of a prospective attendee who requires a visa to travel to the United States. This letter and a copy of event materials (such as an event
announcement, call for papers, or program) should be presented along with the required documentation to the U.S. consular officials as part of the formal application process. (An official letter of invitation may in some cases also be available for
AIAA events held outside the United States – if you intend to travel to such an event and require a visa for travel, please inquire with AIAA as to the availability of an official letter of invitation.)
To request a letter of invitation, please fill out and submit the:
