My goal as IOD Chief is to improve the member experience, particularly for volunteer leaders, by increasing the visibility and impact of the Integration and Outreach Division (IOD). To achieve this, I will work to strengthen the sharing of best practices and lessons learned across AIAA’s IOD, Technical Activities Division (TAD), and Regional Engagement Activities Division (READ), while also incorporating findings from IOD task forces.

Cross-discipline collaboration offers opportunities to broaden perspectives, develop innovative solutions, and re-energize volunteer engagement. Outreach committees can be further strengthened by ensuring alignment with AIAA’s strategic goals. In this way, IOD can serve as a central driver in helping AIAA and its members achieve greater professional fulfillment, stronger engagement, and an improved volunteer leadership experience.

I will build upon the work of previous IOD Chiefs who established this division under AIAA’s new governance structure. I will work directly with IOD groups and committees to better understand how to improve their experience and enhance recruitment and retention efforts, with an emphasis on increasing diversity and ensuring that volunteers who contribute to AIAA feel valued, recognized, and fully integrated into the Institute’s success.

I will draw upon my 30+ years of active AIAA membership, leverage collaboration with AIAA staff and initiatives such as the Domains, and increase IOD visibility at forums through active participation and leadership.
