The ISG is at a critical junction. It is front and center on two strategic Institute initiatives in cybersecurity and autonomous systems, both of which aim to increase AIAA’s impact in these increasingly vital areas.

Our industry is challenged to keep pace with rapid advances in artificial intelligence, communications systems, ubiquitous sensing, human–machine teaming, high-performance computing, cyber defense, and digital engineering. The ISG Technical Committees (TCs) are chartered to address these and other pressing issues in aerospace information systems. However, our volunteer base will increasingly come from non-traditional backgrounds, and we face strong competition for members from other professional societies outside aerospace. Attracting this diverse membership will require unprecedented drive, focus, and passion—qualities I consistently bring to this role.

My goals as ISG Director are to:

  • Raise the profile of ISG within AIAA by increasing interaction between our TCs and other committees, and by establishing a stronger ISG presence at AIAA forums;
  • Expand AIAA’s footprint within the broader information systems community by engaging with related professional societies and convening workshops that attract adjacent disciplines;
  • Strengthen ISG Technical Committees by prioritizing recruitment, closing gaps in underrepresented communities, and engaging high-growth disciplines such as those described above.

I look forward to applying my experience, professional network, and energy to help lead the ISG into its next phase of growth.
