The AIAA SciTech Forum is the world’s largest event for aerospace research, development, and technology. The 2020 forum will bring together experts to share ideas on Fluid Dynamics; Applied Aerodynamics; Guidance, Navigation, and Control; Structures; and much more.
Cancelled – 2020 AIAA Defense and Security Forum (AIAA DEFENSE Forum)
AIAA is sensitive to the worldwide concern regarding the coronavirus infection, and we have been closely monitoring the situation. The health and safety of our event participants are our first priority. Based on recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Defense, AIAA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 AIAA DEFENSE Forum that was to be held 5-7 May in Laurel, Maryland, and the Trusted Autonomous Systems Course that was to be held 8 May.
Please note:
- All paid attendees’ registration fees will be automatically refunded via the original method of payment.It is the responsibility of each participant to cancel his or her hotel room.
- If you made reservations with the Homewood Suites in Laurel, please contact them at 240-360-2725.
- If you have made airline reservations, please contact the airline as soon as possible as AIAA cannot be responsible for costs associated with travel.
While we do not plan to reschedule the 2020 AIAA DEFENSE Forum or Trusted Autonomous Systems course this calendar year, we look forward to your future participation with AIAA, and hope that you’ll mark your calendar for the 2021 AIAA DEFENSE Forum, 20-22 April in Laurel, Maryland.

The 2020 AIAA Propulsion and Energy Forum will be held as a virtual conference in an online-only format 24–26 August. Information on the schedule, specific content, format, registration, refunds, and many other details will be available in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience as we finalize the details for this virtual event.
AIAA recognizes that the face-to-face meeting is ideal for sharing research, ideas, and convening the community. Given the current challenges posed by COVID-19, we feel that the virtual forum format provides the best opportunity for the AIAA community to meet and share information. By removing some of the barriers to traditional forum attendance, including travel costs and time, the virtual forum format will enable greater participation from the aerospace community—traditional and nontraditional. We are excited to use this new format to accomplish AIAA’s mission of helping aerospace professionals and their organizations succeed.
