Multiphysics-Focused Simulation Technology for Hypersonic R&D

Hear from Hexagon about its multiphysics-focused computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation software that has been developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Aerospace to address some of the numerical challenges specific to simulating hypersonic flight – stability, robustness, and coupling to related physics-like structural mechanics and kinematics. Details of the hypersonic flow solver, the co-simulation platform, and the results of their latest validation studies will be reviewed.

NASA’S BIG (Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing) Idea Challenge

Hear about the AIAA Caltech Student Chapter’s success story after being twice selected a finalist for the NASA BIG Idea Challenge. Their 2021 project, HOMES EDS (Electrodynamic Dust Shielding), was also the winner of the AIAA Region VI Student Conference in 2021 and the AIAA International Student Conference held at the 2022 AIAA SciTech Forum. They will share their 2022 project, Lunar Architecture for Tree Traversal In-service-of Cabled Exploration (LATTICE), which was also the winner of the AIAA Region VI Student Conference in 2022 and won the Most Visionary Concept Award at the 2022 NASA BIG Idea Challenge Forum.
