SpaceX Launches 27 Starlink Satellites from Vandenberg

An early-evening Falcon 9 launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base added another 27 satellites to SpaceX’s Starlink constellation. The rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 4 East at 6:47 p.m. PDT Saturday, marking the 81st Starlink mission of the year. Spaceflight Now reported that the Falcon 9 “hugged the Californian coast line” as it flew on a southeasterly trajectory after liftoff and “would have been visible to millions” along the way.

SpaceX Launches Classified U.S. Space Force Mission from Vandenberg

SpaceX successfully launched its latest national security mission for the U.S. Space Force on Thursday, sending the classified USSF-153 payload into low Earth orbit aboard a Falcon 9 rocket. Spaceflight Now reports the mission carried “an undisclosed number of satellites” from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Because of the classified nature of the flight, SpaceX provided few details about the payload or its post-launch activities. The Falcon 9 first-stage booster successfully landed about 8.5 minutes after liftoff.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Booster Completes 35th Flight in Starlink Launch

SPACE reports a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched 27 Starlink satellites from California early this morning (Sept. 2). It was the 35th flight for the rocket’s first stage, Booster 1063, “just two shy of the SpaceX reuse record,” Space.com reports.

SpaceX Launches NASA’s SPHEREx and PUNCH Missions

The New York Times reports, “Two NASA missions launched from the California coast and soared toward the stars late Tuesday night, overcoming a week of delays to get to orbit. Both aim to unravel mysteries about the universe — one by peering far from Earth, the other by looking closer to home. The rocket’s chief passenger is SPHEREx, a space telescope that will take images of the entire sky in more than a hundred colors that are invisible to the human eye. Accompanying the telescope is a suite of satellites known collectively as PUNCH, which will study the sun’s outer atmosphere and solar wind.”

SpaceX Falcon 9 Launches Eutelsat Satellites from California

Reuters reports, “Eutelsat, the world’s third-biggest satellite operator by revenue, launched 20 satellites for its communications network on Sunday, using Elon Musk’s SpaceX in its first move since the merger of two European companies last year. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket took off with Eutelsat satellites from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base at 0513 GMT. ‘This is the first OneWeb launch of the satellites since the merger,’ CEO Eva Berneke told Reuters in an interview. ‘We will be launching more satellites over the coming years.’”
