Idea Challenge Workshop: Defining Opportunities on the Bleeding Edge

The Idea Challenge continues to provide students and young professionals with the opportunity to collaborate, develop ideas, and present during a Forum 360 session at AIAA SciTech Forum. This year, the session will take the format of a workshop, where students and young professionals will present a brief overview, then guide AIAA SciTech Forum attendees in problem formulation through roundtables. The workshop will focus on technologies and opportunities that are more than 10 years away from being feasible, innately “DARPA hard”, rather than looking for solutions to problems. The outcome will be a list of aerospace challenges that will be widely shared within the AIAA community.

Idea Challenge participants will be guiding the workshop, rather than formulating the ideas themselves. Participants will receive training on workshop facilitation and ideation.

In addition to the extensive mentoring, professional development, and networking opportunities, participants receive complimentary registration for the 2025 AIAA SciTech Forum. Submissions will be reviewed by the AIAA SciTech Forum Guiding Coalition, and individuals selected to participate will be notified in early September.
