Madni, an AIAA Lifetime Fellow, is Executive Managing Director and Chief Technical Officer at Crocker Capital; Corporate Director and “Distinguished Professor” at TCI College of Technology in New York, New York; and an adjunct professor of computer science at Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario. Canada. Additionally, he is the retired President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Technology Officer of BEI Technologies Inc. Goleta, CA.

Madni’s selection recognizes his stature as an “internationally recognized authority in the field of development and commercialization of ‘intelligent’ sensors, systems, instrumentation, and signal processing.” “Madni’s selection as a Tau Beta Pi Distinguished Alumni is fitting and truly recognizes the outstanding work his career has produced. From space, where his work has helped our community and the Hubble Space Telescope explore the deepest part of our universe, while his contributions to the automotive community protect millions of automobile drivers and passengers each year, he has dedicated himself to bettering both our community and our world, and AIAA congratulates him on this well-deserved honor.”

Among Madni’s many accomplishments are his leading “the development and commercialization of intelligent micro-sensors and systems for aerospace, military, commercial and transportation industries,” which included the “Extremely Slow Motion Servo Control System for Hubble Space Telescope’s Star Selector System,” as well as the “Quartz MEMS GyroChip technology which is used worldwide for Electronic Stability Control and Rollover Protection devices in automobiles.” Madni’s work has helped to unlock the secrets of the universes, and saved millions of lives each year. Madni has also served on several corporate and university boards. Additionally, he has served as an editor for the IEEE Systems Journal, AutoSoft Journal, and as Honorary Editor of the International Journal on Smart Sensing & Intelligent Systems.

Madni’s many honors include the: UCLA Electrical Engineering 2013 (Inaugural) Distinguished Alumni Award, the 2013 UCLA Electrical Engineering Distinguished Service Award, the 2012 IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society’s Pioneer Award, the 2010 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society’s Career Excellence Award, the 2010 UCLA Engineering Lifetime Contribution Award, and the TCI College of Technology’s Marconi Medal.

Madni is a member of the National Academy of Engineers. He is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (UK), Institution of Engineering & Technology (UK), Institute for the Advancement of Engineering, New York Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society of Automotive Engineers, International Biographical Association.
