AIAA Weapons Bay Store Separation Workshop 3 June 2028 - 4 June 2028 Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, CA Daily from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (UTC-4)
Organized by the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee
The first AIAA Weapons Bay Store Separation Workshop will be held in conjunction with the AIAA AVIATION Forum 2028 in San Diego on 3-4 June 2028.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
- The Weapons Bay Store Separation Workshop (WBS²W) will bring together researchers and engineers from government, industry, and academia to address the challenges associated with CFD-based prediction of the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic phenomena affecting store separation from internal weapons bays.
- The workshop will aim to foster collaboration and discussions around methodologies, computational approaches, modeling techniques, challenges, and best practices in weapons bay store separation simulations.
- The workshop will focus on a benchmark weapons bay store separation configuration, serving as the most practical geometry to test prediction capabilities of current-generation CFD codes.
WORKSHOP GOALS
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing CFD codes and methods for an applied benchmark weapons bay store separation configuration.
- Develop practical modeling guidelines for CFD prediction of applied weapons bay store separation problems.
- Determine what elements of cavity flow physics are essential for modeling to improve prediction accuracy.
- Identify potential areas requiring further research and development.
