AIAA Weapons Bay Store Separation Workshop

Organized by the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee

The first AIAA Weapons Bay Store Separation Workshop will be held in conjunction with the AIAA AVIATION Forum 2028 in San Diego on 3-4 June 2028.

AIAA Drag Prediction and Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop

Organized by the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee

The eighth Drag Prediction Workshop (DPW-8) is being organized as a collaboration with the fourth Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop (AePW-4), in order to leverage and cross-pollinate the expertise of the two communities. The joint “AIAA Drag Prediction and Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop” will be held in conjunction with the AIAA AVIATION Forum 2026 in San Diego on 6-7 June 2026.

AIAA Stability and Control Prediction Workshop

– Sponsored by the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee
– Establish best practices for the prediction of Stability and Control derivatives with RANS or DES – based CFD

General Objectives

– Establish best practices for the prediction of S&C derivatives with RANS or DES – based CFD and to assess the limitations of these CFD methods when those best practices are applied
– Provide an impartial forum for evaluating the effectiveness of existing computer codes and modeling techniques using RANS and DES solver
– Identify areas in need of additional research and development

3rd AIAA Ice Prediction Workshop (Online, 21–24 September 2026)

  • From 21–24 September 2026 (4 half-days, 16 Total Hours)
  • Monday–Thursday at 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Eastern Time (EDT) (UTC−4)
  • Organized by the AIAA Atmospheric and Space Environments Technical Committee
  • This workshop will assess the current capabilities of 3D computational icing simulation tools and comparison of ice shape results.

AIAA CFD Transition Modeling Prediction Workshop

Objectives

  • Assess the current state of the art in laminar-turbulent transition prediction in an industrial CFD environment
  • Determine and document best practices for transitional flow simulations
  • Verify transition/turbulence model implementations
  • Encourage risk taking by participants and promote improvements to CFD prediction capabilities

8th AIAA Drag Prediction Workshop (DPW-8)

The eighth Drag Prediction Workshop (DPW-8) is being organized as a collaboration with the fourth Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop (AePW-4), in order to leverage and cross-pollinate the expertise of the two communities. The joint “AIAA Drag Prediction and Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop” will be held in conjunction with the 2026 AIAA Aviation Forum in San Diego on June 6-7, 2026.

AIAA Geometry and Mesh Generation Workshop (GMGW)

GMGW Objectives
Geometry and Mesh Generation Workshops (GMGW) assess the current state-of-the art in geometry and mesh generation technology and software as applied to aircraft and spacecraft systems. They will help identify and develop understanding of areas of needed improvement (performance, accuracy, applicability) in geometry and mesh generation technology software. And they will provide a foundation for documenting best practices for geometry and mesh generation.

Workshops are open to participants worldwide and provide an unbiased forum for discussion of results and promotion and cross-pollination of best practices. Participants (those people who generate meshes) and any interested parties who wish to attend, listen, and contribute are welcome.

GMGW-3 at SciTech 2022
The 3rd AIAA Geometry and Mesh Generation Workshop (GMGW-3) was held in conjunction with the 4th AIAA High Lift Prediction Workshop on January 7, 2022 at the AIAA SciTech Forum in San Diego, CA.
