Matt Wallace is the Deputy Project Manager for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. Since joining JPL in 1991, he has worked on various robotic planetary missions, including five Mars rover projects. Matt was the Flight System Manager overseeing the development of the spacecraft systems for the successful 2012 Curiosity Rover. Prior to that mission, he managed the assembly, test, and launch operations for the Spirit and Opportunity rovers, and led surface mission operations for Opportunity. He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy, and served in the US submarine fast attack fleet. He holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology. Matt lives in Stevenson Ranch, California with his wife, Sandra, and daughter, Jane.
