Deep Space Exploration – Why Architectures Matter 21 August 2019 1600 - 1630
NASA is unveiling plans for bold new missions to return humans to the Moon and to go to Mars. As we reflect this year on the 50th anniversary of Apollo, history can teach us some valuable lessons. One challenge that we must not lose sight of is the need to maintain strong political will across many election cycles for such an ambitious, long-term effort. Another is the classic military logistics challenge of long supply lines. This talk will discuss why certain architectures are more adaptable and capable of achieving sustainable human presence in deep space – from the Moon to Mars.
