2021 Region V Student Conference

AIAA has announced that the 2021 Region V Student Conference, set for 2–3 April 2021 will be fully online. This event is cohosted by the University of Iowa AIAA Student Branch and the AIAA Iowa Professional Section. The conference is intended for AIAA Region V students from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. Also includes the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, and portions of Ontario.

The Region V Student Conference is a technical and oral paper competition for undergraduate and graduate students. It provides students a change to present their research to professional member judges who can provide feedback and compete for cash prizes. Additionally, this fun-filled two-day event provides students with an opportunity to network with their peers and professionals in the Aerospace industry.

This is a VIRTUAL EVENT – Meeting links and conference booklet/program will be emailed to attendees before the conference starts.

2021 Region I Student Conference

AIAA has announced that the AIAA 2021 Region I Student Conference, set for 9–10 April 2021 and hosted by the Rutgers University AIAA Student Branch, will be fully online. This conference is intended for AIAA Region I Students from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington DC. *New for 2021* Region I also welcomes students from the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

The AIAA Region I Student Conference is a technical and oral paper competition for undergraduate and graduate students of all majors! Connect with professionals in the Aerospace industry and meet other like-minded students who share similar interests throughout the North-Eastern United States. Students have the chance to compete for cash prizes in a fun-filled two-day event. First-place winners will be offered a chance to compete in the 2022 International Student Conference, taking place in conjunction with the 2022 AIAA SciTech Forum, with flight, lodging, and most expenses paid.

AIAA Design/Build/Fly

The AIAA through the Applied Aerodynamics, Aircraft Design, Design Engineering and Flight Test Technical Committees and the AIAA Foundation invites all university students to participate in the Cessna/Raytheon Missile Systems Student Design Build Fly competition. The contest will provide a real-world aircraft design experience for engineering students by giving them the opportunity to validate their analytic studies;

Student teams will design, fabricate, and demonstrate the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric powered, radio controlled aircraft which can best meet the specified mission profile. The goal is a balanced design possessing good demonstrated flight handling qualities and practical and affordable manufacturing requirements while providing a high vehicle performance.

To encourage innovation and maintain a fresh design challenge for each new years participants, the design requirements and performance objective will be updated for each new contest year. The changes will provide new design requirements and opportunities, while allowing for application of technology developed by the teams from prior years.

2021 Regional Leadership Conference

The Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is an annual event offering leaders in AIAA’s Regions and Sections and Student Branches to learn about resources, better understand their officer role, connect with peers, ask questions, and more. RLC 2021 will take place in three sessions over a three-week period using the REMO platform.

AIAA Mid-Atlantic Professional Section Young Professionals, Students, and Educators (YPSE) Conference

The AIAA Mid-Atlantic Professional Section will host its annual Young Professionals, Students, and Educators (YPSE) Conference from 3–4 February 2022. This conference is a virtual event that provides students, young professionals, and educators an opportunity to present technical 20-minute presentations in any area of interest to the aerospace community, as well as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion presentation for the conference DEI track. Awards will be given to exceptional technical presentations.

24th AIAA International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and Technologies Conference

The 24th AIAA International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and Technologies Conference, as a part of ASCEND 2021, provides a forum for discussion and exchange of information for attendees from across the globe about leading-edge research and development activities associated with space planes and hypersonic atmospheric flight vehicles and the technologies underpinning these capabilities. Presentations will be provided on national programs from North America, South America, Australia, Europe, and Asia and multiple opportunities for international collaboration will be discussed.

2022 Region VII Student Conference

AIAA is pleased to announce that the Region VII/International Student Conference will be held from 28–2Agenda 9 November 2022 at the University of Adelaide, in Adelaide, Australia, and online. This conference is intended for AIAA Region VII Students from around the world, with the exceptions of Canada and Mexico, which have been incorporated into AIAA’s North America Regions.

The AIAA Region VII Student Conference is a technical and oral paper competition for undergraduate and graduate students of all majors! Connect with professionals in the Aerospace industry and also meet other like-minded students who share similar interests, and receive feedback on your work! Students may submit any paper that covers the technical disciplines of AIAA, and will have the chance to compete for cash prizes in a fun-filled two-day event. First-place winners will be offered a chance to compete in the 2023 International Student Conference, taking place in conjunction with the 2023 AIAA SciTech Forum, with flight, lodging, and most expenses paid.

This competition is subject to all applicable laws, including US export laws. With respect to the conflict in Ukraine, AIAA will continue our practice not allowing Russian- or Belarusian-based students to participate in the 2022 AIAA Region VII Student Conference, either in person or online.

2024 Regional Leadership Conference

AIAA’s Annual Regional Leadership Conference is back in person! The purpose of the Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is to provide best practices, share across the sections, and inform officers about the latest updates from the Institute.

The in-person session will offer roundtable discussions, present the 2024 section award winners, and AIAA Immediate Past President Laura McGill will give a talk on “Leading with Influence.” This is your chance to learn best practices from other sections and exchange ideas. Please note that registration for the 2024 AIAA AVIATION Forum or 2024 ASCEND is not required in order to attend the 2024 AIAA Regional Leadership Conference.
