ADDITIV Aerospace 2.0

ADDITIV Aerospace is back! After the success of the event last year, ADDITIV Aerospace 2.0 will be taking place 26 April 2022 at 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. EDT (3:00 – 11:30 p.m. CEST). Like in 2021, the conference will be broken up into panel discussions, webinars and networking sessions in order to learn and connect with AM and aerospace professionals in one incredible event.

This year, attendees will be able to learn more about topics ranging from AM certification in aviation, key applications of AM in space such as with satellites and 3D printed rockets, sustainability in the sector, the most important AM materials for aerospace and how AM is helping to advance interplanetary colonization. 2022 Regional Leadership Conference

his event, led by AIAA’s Regional Engagement Activities Division (READ), is an amazing opportunity to gain new tools and resources to help you succeed as an officer within AIAA’s regions, sections, and/or student branches. Additionally, you will be able to meet and connect with other officers from around the globe to share best practices and exchange ideas.

Setting Your Section Up for Success

2020 Regional Leadership Conference

The Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is a great opportunity for section officers, student branch chairs, and branch faculty advisors to come together to meet fellow officers, share experiences, and receive volunteer leadership training as a way to share best practices and continue hosting successful section and student branch activities.

The 2020 RLC is being hosted virtually using Zoom and with one session per week over a seven-week period. Session topics include online resources.

2021 Regional Leadership Conference

The Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is an annual event offering leaders in AIAA’s Regions and Sections and Student Branches to learn about resources, better understand their officer role, connect with peers, ask questions, and more. RLC 2021 will take place in three sessions over a three-week period using the REMO platform.

2019 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference

The 2019 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference, hosted by the American Astronautical Society (AAS) and co-hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), will be held 11-15 August 2019 at the Westin Portland in Portland, Maine. The conference is organized by the AAS Space Flight Mechanics Committee and the AIAA Astrodynamics Technical Committee.

The Sixth International Conference on Tethers in Space (TiS2019)

This conference will be a great opportunity for sharing the last advances in tether technology and bring together again space tether community, including researchers, space agencies and industry. The technical sessions, presentation and networking will create the suitable environment for open discussions on space tethers and their applications to space debris de-orbiting, space propulsion, science, power generation, artificial gravity, and space elevator, among others.

AIAA Young Professionals, Students, and Educators (YPSE) Conference

The AIAA Mid-Atlantic Section is organizing the AIAA Young Professionals, Students, and Educators (YPSE) Conference, to be held 18–19 November. The conference will be held at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Kossiakoff Center.

We are looking for 15-minute presentations in areas of interest to the aerospace community by young professionals (age 35 and under), graduate, undergraduate, high school students, and educators. Topics can be technical in nature or focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Technical track: Presentations will be scored on various criteria including ability to convey impact of work, demonstrate knowledge of the field, methodologies, communication and more. Awards will be given to exceptional presentations in the various categories listed above.

DEI track: Presenters are encouraged to share their story and speak on topics including but not limited to improving DEI in Aerospace, dealing with imposter syndrome/burnout, authenticity, empowerment and outreach, intersectionality and more.

This is an excellent opportunity to share your work with the aerospace community and learn more about the innovative work of fellow aerospace enthusiasts!

Registration for presenters and attendees is now OPEN at aiaaypse.com. Presenter abstract submissions are due by Friday, 28 October. Abstracts should be a 250-500 word overview of the topic you will be presenting on. Abstracts may be released to conference attendees. Complete papers are not required. Abstract submissions should be emailed to the address specified during registration checkout. Notifications of abstract acceptance will be sent no later than Friday, 4 November.

2023 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference

The 2023 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference will be held 13–17 August 2023, at the Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, Montana. This conference is organized by the American Astronautical Society (AAS) Space Flight Mechanics Committee and co-sponsored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Astrodynamics Technical Committee.

Red Rover, Red Rover, Send Curiosity Right Over

The Orange County Section will host a presentation by Todd Barber, senior propulsion engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His presentation will cover Curiosity’s mission to the red planet in detail. Topics to be discussed include a bit on the history of Mars rovers at JPL, the scientific motivation for Curiosity, and the preparations for launch two days after Thanksgiving 2011. Todd Barber has spent two decades as lead propulsion engineer on the Cassini mission to Saturn, following part-time work on the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) mission, Deep Impact mission, and the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission, which landed the large rover Curiosity on the red planet on August 5, 2012.
