Lockheed Martin Case Study Event

Georgia Tech’s AIAA Student Branch is excited to announce their annual Lockheed Martin Case Study event. This is one of GT AIAA’s premier events. GT AIAA received the Region II Outstanding Student Branch Award in 2022 because of the Lockheed Martin Case Study.

AIAA-GT-Student-Branch-logoParticipants will work in teams to produce a solution to a fun real-world aerospace-related problem given data, graphs, etc., and present our answer to Lockheed Martin. There will be prizes for the top team, potential Lockheed Martin prizes for everyone, and the ability to network with Lockheed Martin engineers.

This event is open to everyone, including first-years and all majors, as it does not require any AE course knowledge. Contact Student Branch Chair, Ashish Cavale, with questions.

AVIATIONxWebinar: General Aviation Post Pandemic – An Opportunity to Provide Alternative Air Transportation

This webinar is hosted by AIAA, in collaboration with PEGASAS.

Due to COVID-19, general aviation has the potential to emerge as a more frequently utilized transportation option, offering the ability to avoid traveling in high-capacity commercial aircraft and providing frequency of service or routes that are no longer available commercially. This gives general aviation an opportunity to leverage interest in technology developments for urban and regional air mobility. Join us as we explore what needs to be addressed to make this happen.

This webinar is open to the public and free of charge.

Guest Speaker: Astronaut Ron Sega

Join the UCCS AIAA Student Branch for special guest speaker, Astronaut Ron Sega, Emeritus Director of Systems Engineering, and Emeritus Professor of Systems Engineering, Colorado State University.

This is an in-person event at UCCS. Please RSVP by February 20, 2024.

AIAA Corporate Member Connect: The New Normal of Aerospace Cybersecurity Compliance

Cybersecurity is in the headlines almost daily. The aerospace and defense industry is already taking big steps to improve the safety and security of IT systems, like the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program — CMMC. CMMC is a Department of Defense initiative that takes a continuous, structural approach to cybersecurity. Soon, it will be a feature of all Federal procurements. Agencies like NASA and FAA are already evaluating for solicitations and are not limited to traditional IT.

AIAA Corporate Members can learn more about CMMC at the AIAA Corporate Member Connect event on Thursday, 21 October. Find out more about how CMMC will impact aerospace projects from CMMC Expert and Registered Practitioner, Carter Schoenberg of SoundWay Consulting.

Audience takeaways:
  • The current status of the CMMC program, and what’s next for its implementation
  • What is unique about aerospace and military space markets
  • What your project or company can do now to prepare for CMMC
  • How CMMC will help your company, your products, and your customers—even if the US government is not your primary customer

This webinar is an exclusive corporate member event. If your employer has an AIAA corporate membership and you would like to attend this event, please send an email to Nancy Hilliard

Idea Challenge: The Artemis Generation Speaks

Now in its fifth year, the AIAA Idea Challenge at AIAA SciTech Forum continues to provide young professionals the opportunity to collaborate, develop ideas, and present during a Forum 360 session. This year’s event will focus on giving a voice to the young generation of AIAA leaders, enabling them to share their thoughts and perspectives concerning important issues in the aerospace industry.

Idea Challenge participants will be asked to meet on Sunday, 7 January, to brainstorm and share their ideas. At the close of that meeting, teams will be formed around the collective interests. During the week of AIAA SciTech Forum, teams will develop a pitch on a fundamental issue of importance that the aerospace industry must address. They will participate in a workshop where they form and refine their proposal using the proven methods of value creation developed by Curt Carlson. In addition, they will have the opportunity to meet with mentors to perfect their presentation. Teams will present in the afternoon Forum 360 session on Thursday, 11 January.

In addition to the collaboration, mentoring, and professional development opportunities mentioned above, Idea Challenge members will receive complimentary registration for the 2024 AIAA SciTech Forum.

There are a limited number of participants that will be accepted for this year’s Idea Challenge. To confirm your place, please email [email protected].
