Mars 2020 Rover Aeroshell. The aeroshell for the Mars 2020 rover was designed and built at Lockheed Martin Space near Denver and is comprised of two parts, the heat shield and the backshell. About 15 ft in diameter, the heat shield uses Phenolic Impregnated Carbon Ablator (PICA) tiles to ablate the intense heat during Mars entry.
