AIAA Rocky Mountain Annual Technical Symposium 2023

Hosted by the AIAA Rocky Mountain Section — The Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering invites you to the 2023 AIAA Annual Technical Symposium

The Annual Technical Symposium brings together the regional leaders, technical experts, and academia in the aerospace and aeronautics industry. ATS is a forum to help shape the future of the industry, a place for people in all stages of their career to gather, network, and collaborate. It is a place to learn a new process, gather inspiration, and make the connection to turn that inspiration into reality. This event is hosted and organized by the AIAA Rocky Mountain Section.

16th Overset Grid Symposium

Presented By: AIAA Dayton-Cincinnati Section

This international symposium provides an open forum for communication among mathematicians, scientists, and engineers from academia, industry, and government. The technical organization is informal, and only oral presentations are required. The goals of the symposium are to:

  • Communicate recent work, new research ideas, and work in progress
  • Exchange ideas involving overset grid technologies, including unsteady and moving body problems, and emerging hybrid strategies
  • Provide an opportunity for interaction between researchers, developers, and practitioners
  • Improve individual performance and understanding of overset technologies via many tutorial sessions and technical presentations

No written paper is required, and works in development for other technical forums are welcome. Best presentation awards will be made for each technology area.

2025 Region II Student Conference

Conference Host: North Carolina State University
Conference Location: Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport
Conference Dates: 3–4 April 2025

Take part in AIAA’s Regional Student Conference by presenting your research in a formal technical meeting, exchange ideas, and discuss programs with students from other universities in your region.

Please note: A university student in good standing at their institution who is also an AIAA student member is eligible to submit a paper to the Regional Student Conference. The submitting and presenting author(s) must be AIAA student members. Any student may attend the Regional Student Conference but may be subjected to a higher registration fee if they are not AIAA members. You must be attending a college/university in Region II to participate in the Region II Student Conference.

Region II includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Additionally, it includes students from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Cash prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place winners for each category. First-place regional winners are then invited to participate in the AIAA Foundation International Student Conference, held during the AIAA SciTech Forum each January.

2025 Region III Student Conference

Conference Location:  The Tangeman University Center

Take part in AIAA’s Regional Student Conference by presenting your research in a formal technical meeting, exchange ideas, and discuss programs with students from other universities in your region.

30th Annual Young Astronauts Day

Young Astronaut Day is a STEM outreach event for 1st–12th-grade students annually hosted by the AIAA Northern Ohio Section. The theme for the 30th anniversary is “Soaring High – Through the Decades.”

This event allows students the opportunity to work on a team to solve engineering challenges. Teams are tasked to complete three activities that create one mission within a two-hour period, promoting strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in a friendly competition setting. The event also will have a keynote address and an opportunity to interact with the scientists and engineers who are leading the activities.

2025 Region V Student Conference

AIAA Young Professionals, Students, and Educators (YPSE) Conference

The AIAA Mid-Atlantic Section is organizing the AIAA Young Professionals, Students, and Educators (YPSE) Conference, to be held 22 November. The conference will be held at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Kossiakoff Center.

Technical track: Presentations will be scored on various criteria including ability to convey impact of work, demonstrate knowledge of the field, methodologies, communication and more. Awards will be given to exceptional presentations in the various categories listed above.

DEI track: Presenters are encouraged to share their story and speak on topics including but not limited to improving DEI in Aerospace, dealing with imposter syndrome/burnout, authenticity, empowerment and outreach, intersectionality and more.

This is an excellent opportunity to share your work with the aerospace community and learn more about the innovative work of fellow aerospace enthusiasts! You do not need to be a member of the Mid-Atlantic Section to participate!
