Setting Your Section Up for Success

RLC will kick off with an overview of section roles and responsibilities, guidance on activities in a post-COVID world, and how sections fit into the evolution of AIAA. Attendees will also have the opportunity to break out into rooms and network with other sections of similar sizes to gain new ideas and share best practices.

Student branch and section interaction is very important to helping foster future aerospace professionals. Join us in this session to speak with student branch leaders to understand students’ needs and supporting their journey as future leaders.

2022 Region VI Student Conference

Registration is now closed.

Take part in AIAA’s Regional Student Conference by presenting your research in a formal technical meeting, exchange ideas, and discuss programs with students from other universities in your region.

You must be an AIAA Student Member and attending a college/university or high school in Region VI to participate in the Region VI Student Conference.

Region VI includes Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. Additionally, it includes the Canadian provinces of Yukon and British Columbia.

Cash prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place winners for each category. First-place regional winners are then invited to participate in the AIAA Foundation International Student Conference, held during the AIAA SciTech Forum each January.

Cancelled – 2020 Region VI Student Conference

The student and volunteer organizers of the AIAA Region VI Student Conference have cancelled their conference due to concerns about the coronavirus.

The Region VI Student Conference was scheduled to be held 28–29 March at Portland State University and was originally postponed to a new date in the future. However, a decision has been reached to cancel the conference at this time out of an abundance of caution due to a concern for the health and safety of visitors, students, faculty, and staff. AIAA will provide a full refund of conference registration fees in the next 3 to 5 business days.

Student papers submitted to the conferences will still be evaluated by technical judges, and feedback will be provided after reviews have been completed. We apologize for this inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and patience. For any questions, please contact Michael Lagana at  [email protected].

The Region II Student Conference was scheduled to be held 5-7 April at the University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa and has been cancelled at this time out of an abundance of caution due to a concern for the health and safety of visitors, students, faculty, and staff. AIAA will provide a full refund of conference registration fees in the next 3 to 5 business days. Students are still encouraged to submit their papers to be evaluated for feedback from judges. For questions about cancellation for Region II only, please contact Cassy Dellinger at [email protected].

The American Rocketry Challenge 2021

Organized by AIA and the National Association of Rocketry, provides high school students with an opportunity to compete in the nation’s largest student rocket competition. AIAA is proud to support this program by providing technical mentors and the opportunity to expose students to rocket challenges, fun, and the comradery that underpins the aerospace profession.

2020 Region VII Student Paper Competition & AIAA Sydney Section Student Conference

AIAA Sydney Section Student Conference Moves to Fully Online

AIAA has announced that the AIAA Sydney Section Student Conference, cosponsored by the AIAA Student Branch at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, NSW (Australia) and the AIAA Sydney Professional Section, set for 25–26 November 2020, will be fully online.

The University of New South Wales in Sydney, NSW will host this year’s Region VII Student Conference on 25–26 November. This will be a virtual event. Cohosted by the UNSW AIAA Student Branch and the AIAA Sydney Section. The 2020 Region VII Student Conference provides students with ample opportunity to network with their peers and professional members of industry and present their original research in front of a group of volunteer professional member judges who will provide them with feedback. Students will have the chance to compete for cash prizes in a fun-filled two-day event!

New! Announcing a Master’s Category – students pursuing a Master’s by research degree across AIAA Region VII are welcome to submit their papers to the 2020 Region VII Student Conference.

International Student Conference

The International Student Conference is an invitation-only student conference contained within the annual AIAA SciTech Forum and Exposition. First-place winners from each of the previous year’s AIAA Regional Student Conferences are invited to present their winning papers at the International Student Conference in front of a panel of professional member judges in the undergraduate, masters, and team categories. At the conclusion of the conference, the AIAA Foundation will award three $1,000 cash prizes to each category’s first place winners. Want to get invited to SciTech?
