In 1991, Dr. Joe Casper of United Technologies Research Center called me to ask if Intelligent Light had any collaboration with an aerospace organization called “AIAA.” UTRC was a customer of our 3DV animation and rendering products and through their visualization visionary, David Edwards, were sponsoring the development of FieldView. So, when Joe said, “they are having exhibits at the Reno meeting for the first time, and you should be there,” we jumped! Thus began our association with AIAA. Looking ahead, despite many advances, we’ll need to break free of legacy processes if we are to exceed NASA’s 2030 goals.

Start-up companies play a unique “enabler” role to vet novel research ideas and results in commercial applications and markets, but are a currently untapped resource for the AIAA community. Hear from representatives of materials start-up companies who will present their products, operations, and vision for future directions to enlighten and encourage the audience about potential future collaboration.

Students, several of whom are FAA-Certified Drone Pilots, from the Elementary Institute of Science’s program, Girls Take Flight, will present and talk about the program and their experiences. The students will do a drone flight demonstration and share what they’ve accomplished in the program, including a montage of their final project videos that showcases plenty different ways to use drones.
This is an introduction to the configuration and evaluation of fully parametric aircraft models with Pacelab APD, the premiere off-the-shelf preliminary design platform. The presentation illustrates a step-by-step conceptual design process, starting from an early assessment of requirements to setting up and evaluating a complex multidisciplinary parametric aircraft model.
