Boeing’s 5th 777X Makes First Flight from Paine Field
Flying Magazine reports, “Boeing’s fifth 777-9X made its first flight Tuesday, launching out of Seattle Paine Field International Airport (KPAE) in Everett, Washington, just north of Seattle. According to the Seattle Times, the aircraft lifted off at approximately 11 a.m. PDT. It is classified as a production airplane, with its primary function being to determine if certain features of the aircraft work as expected.”

Boeing Resumes 777X Test Flights
Reuters reports, “Boeing resumed testing for its long-delayed 777X widebody jet on Thursday, with the first flight since the U.S. planemaker grounded the test fleet in August due to the failure of a key engine mounting structure. The grounding came just five weeks after it had started certification flights for the 777-9 with officials from the U.S. aviation regulator onboard.”

The Seattle Times reports that the FAA has granted Boeing authority to begin flying its new 777X with FAA personnel on board — beginning a series of test flights needed “to win approval for the 777X to enter passenger service.”

Air India Order Includes 737 MAX, 787, and 777X Aircraft
Reuters reported that Air India “is close to a deal to order more than 200 Boeing jets including 190 narrowbody 737 MAX and 30 widebody 787s – part of an historic fleet shake-up roughly split with Boeing’s European rival Airbus, industry sources said on Friday.” The deal is “also expected to include an unspecified number of Boeing 777X long-range jets, they added.” Airbus is separately “moving towards a deal with Air India including at least 200 of its A320-family narrowbody jets as well as dozens of larger A350s, industry sources said.” Both The Boeing Company and Airbus declined to comment, but the orders split between the two major aircraft makers would reportedly cost tends of billions of dollars as the Tata Group-owned airline looks to create a renaissance for the carrier.

Boeing Displays 777X for the First Time at Dubai Airshow
Aviation International News reports that The Boeing Company displayed its new 777X at the Dubai Airshow Sunday. The 777-9, “the larger of the two planned 777X variants, landed on November 9 at Dubai World Central following a 15-hour nonstop journey from Seattle’s Boeing Field.” The trip was the 777X’s first international flight “and the longest to date as it continues to undergo a rigorous flight test program scheduled for completion in 2023.”
