Business Aviation Flight Activity Increases in March

Aviation International News reported that global business aviation “flight activity last month climbed 25.7 percent year-over-year, boosted by more than 321,000 flights in North America and more than 74,000 flights in Europe, according to Argus International’s TraqPak monthly report.” TraqPak expects the trend to continue “in April with flight increases of 13.3 percent in North America and 79 percent in Europe.”

Embraer CEO Says New Customers Change Business Jet Market Dynamics

Aviation International News reports that Embraer Executive Jets CEO and President Michael Amalfitano described at Corporate Jet Investor Miami 2021 how the increase in first-time business aviation users is changing the aircraft industry’s dynamics. Amalfitano said, “When you look at that growth at the bottom, the access is growing. You have to start thinking about what are they, what do they want? Who are these people? And you recognize they’re getting younger. We’re talking to millennials, X, Y, Z, and the seeds in terms of generation.”

WingX Says Business Aviation Is Recovering Globally

Aviation International News reported that global business aviation activity is down 2% year-over-year, according to industry data provider WingX. WingX “said business aviation accounted for a larger percentage of all fixed-wing traffic thus far in 2021 at 19 percent, compared with 12 percent in the same period last year.” The firm noted that business aviation recovery in the US is led by the 12 states that have loosened travel restrictions. Departures from those areas are up 11% in March year-over-year. In Europe, nonscheduled jet and propeller-powered aircraft activity is down 12% year-over-year in March. WingX Managing Director Richard Koe said, “Business aviation in the U.S. is remarkably buoyant, with clear growth on the pre-pandemic period in 2020. Activity in Europe is getting closer to normal, with trends also starting to reflect comparison with the slowdown pre-lockdown in March 2020.”

Business Aviation Flight Hours Increased 87.5% In Third Quarter

Aviation International News reports that business aviation flight hours increased more than 87% between the second and third quarters, according to Jet Support Services’ (JSSI) quarterly Business Aviation Index. Business aviation activity recovered to more than 78% of its 2019 levels, “after average flight hours reached all-time lows in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” JSSI CEO Neil Brook said, “I think we will see elevated leisure travel during the winter months, as tighter travel restrictions coupled with the virus resurgence will continue to inhibit business-related flight hours.”
