Flying Magazine reports, “The world’s largest private jet operator this week added the world’s fastest business jet to its fleet as premium travel inches toward a return to supersonic speeds. NetJets on Thursday took delivery of its first ultra-long-range Bombardier Global 8000 at the manufacturer’s Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Dorval, Quebec. NetJets plans to build a 24-strong fleet of the aircraft, which received Transport Canada and FAA certification in late 2025. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) followed suit in January.”

Bombardier’s Global 8000 Achieves FAA Certification as Fastest Civil Jet in Decades
Reuters reports, “Bombardier’s Global 8000 business jet, the world’s fastest civilian plane since the Concorde, has received certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the Canadian planemaker said on Friday. The Global 8000 jet has a top speed of Mach 0.95, or about 729 miles per hour.”

Bombardier Announces Its Global 8000 Sets Cabin Altitude Record
Flying Magazine reports, “Bombardier announced Tuesday that its new Global 8000 now offers the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet in production. The Canadian aerospace manufacturer said the Global 8000 has a cabin altitude of 2,691 feet while flying at 41,000 feet.”

Bombardier Seals $1.7B Aircraft Order from Anonymous Client
Aerotime reports, “Canadian aerospace manufacturer Bombardier has announced that it has secured a “significant firm order” for 50 aircraft, valued at $1.7 Billion. According to Bombardier, the firm order consists of 50 of its Challenger and Global aircraft, combined with a first-of-a-kind service agreement, with deliveries set to begin in 2027. The deal also has an option for the purchase of a further 70 aircraft, which, if exercised, would take the value of the order over $4 Billion.”

Bombardier Goes Supersonic with its Global 8000
Aviation Week reported, “As Bombardier continues certification tests of the extended-range Global 8000, company test pilots have provided new details of the unusual supersonic flight-test campaign conducted last year off the California coast.” Flight testing for the fastest and longest-range business jet is using FTV-5, a Global 7500 aircraft on which the 8000 is based. In May of 2021, the FTV-5 repeatedly achieved supersonic speed in shallow dives, reaching Mach 1.015 The test marked the fastest civilian aircraft since the retirement of the Concorde and the first transport category aircraft to fly supersonically with sustainable aviation fuel.
