Airbus Introduces U145 Uncrewed Helicopter with AI-Powered Autonomy

Aerotime reports, “Airbus Helicopters has introduced the U145, an uncrewed variant of its H145 light twin, presenting a full-scale mock-up of the aircraft at the ILA Berlin airshow on June 8, 2026. The manufacturer said a maiden flight with a safety pilot on board is planned for the end of 2026, with entry into service expected at the start of the next decade.”

Boeing-Backed EVIO Unveils Hybrid-Electric Regional Jet With 450 Orders

Aerotime reports, “EVIO, a little-known hybrid-electric aircraft developer backed by Boeing, stepped into the spotlight on December 11, 2025, with the public launch of its EVIO 810 regional airliner and a claim of 450 conditional purchase agreements. The clean-sheet aircraft, a 76-seat hybrid-electric design, is aimed at the 50- to 100-seat market and is planned to enter service in the early 2030s.”

Vertical Aerospace Introduces Valo, Its Latest eVTOL Design

Aerotime reports, “Electric vehicle takeoff and landing (eVTOL) developer Vertical Aerospace has unveiled Valo, the latest evolution of its urban air mobility aircraft following the VX4 prototype. On December 12, 2025, the first photos of Valo were released showing a much sleeker and sharper unit from the VX4, Vertical’s workhorse eVTOL prototype.”

Skyryse Introduces its AI-powered Cockpit Flight Assistant Skylar

Aerotime reports, “Skyryse, a California-based aviation technology startup company, has introduced Skylar, an AI flight assistant that integrates with the maker’s SkyOS operating system. The technology is designed to reduce pilot workload, simplify communications, and improve safety across a wide range of aircraft, the company said. Skylar is designed to function as an always-on copilot, supporting the pilot through all phases of flight.”

RTX’s Pratty & Whitney Implements Additive Manufacturing to Reduce Engine Repair Time

Reuters reports, “RTX said on Tuesday its enine making subsidiary Pratt & Whitney has developed an additive manufacturing repair process for its geared turbofan (GTF) engine components, which would reduce process time by more than 60%. The unit is currently navigating an issue with the GTF engines and is conducting an inspection drive for potentially flawed components, which has led to the grounding of hundreds of planes in recent months.”

Embraer’s Eve Unveils First Air Taxi Prototype

Flying Magazine reports, “Eve Air Mobility, the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi subsidiary of Embraer, this week joined a select group of eVTOL manufacturers. At the Farnborough International Airshow in the U.K., Eve unveiled its first full-scale eVTOL air taxi prototype, assembled at Embraer’s test facility in Brazil’s São Paulo state.”

DARPA Announces 6 New Designs for Uncrewed VTOL Military Aircraft

SPACE reports, “The U.S. military could soon have new uncrewed aircraft that carry weapons and take off and land vertically. The vehicles could undergo test flights as early as 2026. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has announced it is moving into a new testing phase for proposed experimental aircraft in which designs will be assessed for risk and analyzed for efficiency.”

Archer Introduces ‘Automotive Style’ Battery Pack to Air Taxi Production Line

Flying reports, “Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufacturer Archer Aviation is ready to produce thousands of lithium-ion battery packs for its flagship Midnight air taxi. The manufacturer on Wednesday announced it completed the installation of an “automotive style” battery pack manufacturing line within its integrated test lab and manufacturing facilities in San Jose, California.
