U.S. Air Force Shares Video of B-21 Raider Taking Off and Landing

Flying Magazine reports, “The U.S. Air Force released footage of the B-21 Raider stealth bomber undergoing flight testing at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Wednesday’s video marks the service’s first reveal of the aircraft’s flight operations. ‘A B-21 Raider conducts flight testing, which includes ground testing, taxiing, and flying operations in California,’ the Air Force said in a statement accompanying the video.”

Joby Aviation Submits Application for Air Taxi Certificate in UAE

Aerotime reports, “Joby Aviation is moving forward with its plans to launch commercial eVTOL operations in the Middle East. On September 9, 2024, the Californian company announced that it has submitted an application to aviation authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to become certified as an air taxi operator. The announcement was made during the Advanced Air Mobility Symposium, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which is taking place in Montréal, Québec, Canada, between September 9-12, 2024.”

Embraer Shares More Details About its New Autonomous Takeoff System

Simple Flying reports, “During the Farnborough Airshow earlier this year, Embraer introduced a new takeoff system it calls E2TS, which stands for Embraer Enhanced Takeoff System. It’s a world-first automated takeoff system, which will see the pilots not rotating the aircraft off the runway. … At a media briefing last week, Embraer revealed more details about the E2TS system and how it works, as well as its potential to influence the wider aviation industry, not just the E2 family of aircraft.”

Heart Aerospace Shows Off Full-Scale Demonstrator for First Time

Flying Magazine reports, “Swedish hybrid-electric aircraft manufacturer Heart Aerospace unveiled Wednesday a 30-seat demonstrator dubbed Heart Experimental 1, or Heart X1. The aircraft—the company’s first full-scale demonstrator of its ES-30 aircraft under development—will serve as a testing platform and marks a ‘major milestone’ for development of the regional airplane set to make its fully electric first flight in the second quarter of next year, the company said.”

EasyJet and JetZero to Partner on Development of BWB Aircraft

Airways reports, “British low-cost airline EasyJet (U2) has announced a partnership with JetZero, a California-based company, to develop a Blended-Wing Body (BWB) aircraft. With a significant step towards sustainable aviation and aircraft development, U2 has become the first European airline to partner with the U.S. startup JetZero, which specializes in BWB aircraft powered by hydrogen technology.”
