Wisk Sees Pathway to Autonomy Without Rule Changes
Aviation Week Network reports that Wisk Aero “believes there is a path to operate its uncrewed air taxis on commercial services without the need for new FAA rulemakings, by relying instead on a mix of existing regulations, letters of agreement with air traffic control (ATC), waivers, exemptions and other special procedures.”

Wisk Aero Makes Autonomous eVTOL Flight from California Airport
Aviation Week reports Wisk Aero has started “conducting test flights of its autonomous air taxi out of Long Beach Airport, California, which the Boeing subsidiary believes is the first time an electric-vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) vehicle has flown in Los Angeles.” Wisk’s fifth-generation Cora demonstrator is being used for the test flights. According to the article, Wisk’s purpose for the flights “is to capture learnings about conducting autonomous operations at a major commercial airport.”

Wisk Aero Unveils New Tiltrotor Aircraft
Aerospace America reports that at a press conference, Wisk Aero unveiled its new tiltrotor aircraft, which features four seats and a 15 meter wingspan. The Generation 6 aircraft, which seats four, “has six booms, each mounted with two propellers. The front six propellers are tilt rotors, while the back six are only for lift and are stowed in an aerodynamic position for forward flight.” In a press release, Wisk said, “With this aircraft, Wisk will redefine long-standing concepts of flight and usher in a safer, scalable, and more accessible era in aviation.”

Wisk Aero Details Electric Test Aircraft, Production Plans
Aerospace America reported that Wisk Aero “showed off one of the electric test aircraft it has flown over the years and announced plans to reveal in October the first production aircraft of its next-generation design” at its company tent at the Farnborough Airshow. The production model of Wisk’s eVTOL “will have four seats instead of the two in the Cora test aircraft on display.”
