The AIAA AVIATION Forum 2026 will open on 8 June, in San Diego, with five days spanning commercial aviation, defense, academia, and emerging technology. More than 300 speakers will appear throughout the forum, drawn from leading aviation companies, defense and civil government agencies, and top research universities around the world. One of the key differentiators of AIAA events is the deep technical content, with more than 800 technical papers to be presented throughout the week.

AIAA unveiled the program for AIAA AVIATION Forum 2026, 8-12 June, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt and it’s built to match the rapid pace of change in aerospace. This year’s theme, “From Velocity to Altitude – Accelerating Toward Tomorrow,” captures the acceleration of aviation technology. Registration for the forum is open, with early-bird rates ending 11 May.

Hybrid Aircraft One Step Toward the Future of Aviation

Aircraft powered by hybrid-electric engines can bridge the gap between today’s fossil-fuel jets and tomorrow’s zero-emission aircraft, said Susan Ying, CEO of AMP2FLY, during the 2025 AIAA Wright Brothers Lecture in Aeronautics. Ying, an AIAA Fellow, used the lecture during the 2025 AIAA AVIATION Forum in July to unveil a practical roadmap for hybrid-electric flight for commercial aviation that will help achieve near net-zero emissions by 2050 and provide cleaner flights for short-hop routes for commercial success “within a few years.”
