2026 Region I Student Conference

Conference Host: University of Maryland College Park

Take part in AIAA’s Regional Student Conference by presenting your research in a formal technical meeting, exchange ideas, and discuss programs with students from other universities in your region.

Please note: A high school or university student in good standing at their institution who is also an AIAA student member is eligible to submit a paper to the Regional Student Conference. The submitting and presenting author(s) must be AIAA student members. Any student may attend the Regional Student Conference but may be subjected to a higher registration fee if they are not AIAA members. Please click here for more information to join as an AIAA Student Member.

You must be attending a high school/college/university in Region I to participate in the Region I Student Conference. Students can petition to present at a conference outside their university’s region by emailing [email protected].

Region I includes Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington DC. Additionally, it includes students from the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Cash prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place winners for each category.

The AIAA Defense and Security Forum (AIAA DEFENSE Forum) is a Secret/NOFORN event providing a venue for leaders from government, military, industry, and academia to advance and accelerate modernization, informed by Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering’s priorities.

Cancelled – 2020 AIAA Defense and Security Forum (AIAA DEFENSE Forum)

AIAA is sensitive to the worldwide concern regarding the coronavirus infection, and we have been closely monitoring the situation. The health and safety of our event participants are our first priority. Based on recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Defense, AIAA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 AIAA DEFENSE Forum that was to be held 5-7 May in Laurel, Maryland, and the Trusted Autonomous Systems Course that was to be held 8 May.

Please note:

  • All paid attendees’ registration fees will be automatically refunded via the original method of payment.It is the responsibility of each participant to cancel his or her hotel room.
  • If you made reservations with the Homewood Suites in Laurel, please contact them at 240-360-2725.
  • If you have made airline reservations, please contact the airline as soon as possible as AIAA cannot be responsible for costs associated with travel.

While we do not plan to reschedule the 2020 AIAA DEFENSE Forum or Trusted Autonomous Systems course this calendar year, we look forward to your future participation with AIAA, and hope that you’ll mark your calendar for the 2021 AIAA DEFENSE Forum, 20-22 April in Laurel, Maryland.
