Airbus Confirms Air Astana Order for 25 A320neo Family Jets

Aerotime reports, “Airbus has confirmed that Kazakhstan’s flag carrier Air Astana has placed an order for 25 A320neo family aircraft, its largest ever order with the European manufacturer. On March 2, 2026, Airbus announced that five A320neo and 20 A321neo aircraft would be deployed with both Air Astana and its low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan as part of the overall fleet expansion and renewal.”

Italy Places $47-Million Order for AeroVironment Jump Drones

The Defense Post reports, “Italy has signed a $46.6-million deal with AeroVironment for the delivery of Jump 20 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), set to replace its aging fleet of AAI RQ-7 Shadow drones. The five-year contract includes engineering, technical support, and maintenance services from AeroVironment to ensure the UAVs are fully operational from day one.”

Korean Air, Boeing Finally Sign Off on Order for 50 New Jets

Aerotime reports that Korean Air and Boeing have finally signed off on a long-anticipated order for up to 50 brand-new widebody jets worth $24.9 billion. “The finalized order, announced on March 26, 2025, includes 20 Boeing 777-9s and 20 787-10s, with options for 10 additional 787 Dreamliners in the future.”

Airbus Wins Most of Japan JAL’s Order for 42 New Planes

Reuters reports that Japan Airlines will buy 42 planes from Airbus and Boeing, it said on Thursday, in a breakthrough for European planemaker Airbus, which will provide single-aisle jets to the long-time Boeing customer for the first time. South Korea’s largest carrier, Korean Airalso said it would order 33 Airbus A350s in a deal valued at $13.7 billion that is its first purchase of that aircraft family.

Wizz Air Orders 75 More A321neos

Aviation Week reports that Wizz Air shareholders attending the carrier’s annual general meeting “have voted in favor of buying a further 75 Airbus A321neo family aircraft.” The firm order “takes Wizz Air’s total order for the largest variant of the Airbus single-aisle family to 434.”

Air India Order Includes 737 MAX, 787, and 777X Aircraft

Reuters reported that Air India “is close to a deal to order more than 200 Boeing jets including 190 narrowbody 737 MAX and 30 widebody 787s – part of an historic fleet shake-up roughly split with Boeing’s European rival Airbus, industry sources said on Friday.” The deal is “also expected to include an unspecified number of Boeing 777X long-range jets, they added.” Airbus is separately “moving towards a deal with Air India including at least 200 of its A320-family narrowbody jets as well as dozens of larger A350s, industry sources said.” Both The Boeing Company and Airbus declined to comment, but the orders split between the two major aircraft makers would reportedly cost tends of billions of dollars as the Tata Group-owned airline looks to create a renaissance for the carrier.

African Airlines Order New Airliners

Aviation Week reports that three African carriers “announced orders for new aircraft at Dubai Airshow on Tuesday, demonstrating confidence in the region’s potential for air-traffic growth.” Air Tanzania “announced an order for one Boeing 787-7, one 767-300F and two 737 MAXs”; Ibom Air ordered 10 A220s; and AfriJet ordered three ATR 72-600s.
