Babu Chalamala Head of the Energy Storage Technology and Systems Department Sandia National Laboratories

Dr. Babu Chalamala is Head of the Energy Storage Technology and Systems Department at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Prior to joining Sandia in 2015, he was a Corporate Fellow at MEMC Electronic Materials, where he led R&D and manufacturing of energy storage systems. Before that, he founded two startup companies commercializing large format lithium batteries and digital x-ray sources. Earlier, as a research staff member at Motorola and Texas Instruments, he made contributions to the development of electronic materials and device technologies. An IEEE Fellow, he currently serves as vice chair of the IEEE PES Energy Storage and Stationary Battery Committee.
