Cancelled - Congressional Visits Day 2020 18 March 2020 Capitol Hill, Washington, DC

CVD Canceled

Dear CVD Registrant:

We are sensitive to the worldwide concern regarding the coronavirus infection, and we have been closely monitoring the situation. AIAA has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Congressional Visits Day (CVD) program because the health and safety of participants is our utmost priority. CVD is an important program to AIAA and our members and we look forward to the 2021 event.

It is the responsibility of each participant to cancel his or her travel and lodging accommodations as AIAA cannot be responsible for these associated costs. It is also the responsibility of every state team to cancel their scheduled meetings with their respective congressional delegations. Please offer to provide the appropriate staffer with an electronic version of our 2020 Key Issues, state fact sheets, and pertinent Information Papers so they understand how vital aerospace is to national security and the economy. Moreover, it is highly encouraged for members and section leaders to hold meetings with their congressional representatives while they are in the district during congressional recesses. All documents are available for download on the AIAA website.

We apologize for this inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Congressional Visits Day (CVD) is an annual event that brings AIAA members—engineers, scientists, researchers, and students—to meet with national decision makers and discuss critical community issues in civil aeronautics, civil astronautics, and defense. Through face-to-face meetings with members of Congress, legislative staff, and other key stakeholders, CVD raises awareness of the long-term value that science, engineering, and technology bring to America.

Why Attend
  • Gain a better understanding of current issues impacting the aviation, defense, and space sectors
  • Discover how to personally engage your representatives in Washington, DC
  • Learn about the legislative process
  • Develop an awareness of policy and how it affects what aerospace engineers do and how you do it
  • Network with your aerospace community peers

"Participating in CVD was like getting a bird’s eye view of a grand and magnificent national aerospace project. I knew that my contribution might be small, but being the voice of aerospace community filled my heart with immense pride and humility at the same time." –Ruchir Goswami, PhD Candidate, Iowa State University
